FRÍAS
Located at the Montes Obarenses, the medieval town of Frías is considered one of the prettiest villages in Spain and declared of Cultural Interest.
It is located on the northeast of Burgos, in the Valle de Tobalina, belonging to the historical region Las Merindades and border with another emblematic region of Burgos, La Bureba. It has the honor of being the smallest city in Spain, seated on the hill La Muela, Frías was a strategic location on the way over the Ebro river since Roman times, and especially in Medieval times, between the Cantábrico sea and plateau.
Its streets keep the medieval structure crowned by the Castle of Velasco and the church of San Vicente. Especially charming streets, where it seems that time stopped centuries, invite visitors to observe their getting lost and detached houses built with tuff and wood.
Frías with its monuments offers visitors the streets of medieval structure, the entrance gates to the city and the walled city, the castle of Frias, the Jewish quarter, the medieval laundry, the hanging houses, and entrance to the city by the Roman road to the medieval bridge over the Ebro river.
The geographical location of Frías is a starting point to make tours in the region of La Bureba and the region of Las Merindades. -
TOBERA
Just two kilometers from Frías we find the village of Tobera, where Molinar river waterfalls flow through its streets. Also worth a visit to this town to discover a special place, where we find the chapel of Santa Maria de la Hoz, the Sanctuary of Cristo de los Remedios and the medieval bridge, all surrounded by covered mountain walls with green vegetation.
From this beautiful place, from a narrow path descend to Tobera following the course of the river, contemplating the river waterfalls from several viewpoints. -
PEDROSA DE TOBALINA
Pedrosa de Tobalina,is a village located 7 km from Trespaderne, we can see a spectacular waterfall formed by the Río Jerea passing through this village. The river water rushes in a fall of almost twenty meters high and more than a hundred meters wide, resulting in a great and unforgettable show, especially in times of heavy rainfall or snowmelt. Waterfall Pedrosa deTobalina is considered for its beauty in one of the seven wonders of the province of Burgos, is one of the natural places of Burgos most visited throughout the year.

NECRÓPOLIS DE QUINTANA MARÍA
The necropolis is located 350 m south of the church in the village of Quintana María, has burials of the high Middle Ages (VIII-X century) excavated directly into the rock of Peña San Clemente.The necropolis consists of about 40 anthropomorphic tombs of mostly adults, and also some child-sized.
From the necropolis of Quintana Maria you can see the peak Hurmión and the medieval town of Frías. -
TRESPADERNE
Village where is the Tedeja Castle, that is the oldest castle which you can see in Castilla. This Roman fort was rebuilt in the Middle Ages.
In this village is the center of archaeological interpretation "Defile de la Horadada" that is installed in what was the hangar of the old railway station of Trespaderne. The Roman Bridge of eight arches and the Cave of the Portugueses, are the other attractions of the town of Trespaderne. -
DESFILADERO DE SOBRÓN
Spectacular limestone walls carved by the river Ebro. Communicates Valle de Tobalina with Miranda de Ebro. We enjoy mixed forests of beech, oak trees, strawberry trees, hazel, etc. and wildlife such as deer, boar, bobcat; raptors: eagles, owls, peregrine falcons and eagle owls.The profile marked walls and steep slopes that between the peaks and the water level of Sobrón, provide a landscape of great beauty.

DESFILADERO DEL RÍO PURÓN
The Sierra de Árcena in the Valle de Tobalina, separates the provinces of Burgos and Álava. Already in Roman times a road was built and crossed these mountains along the gorge torn by the Purón River. Today, we can walk the gorge of Purón River of great beauty down their throats through a hiking route linking the towns of Herran (Burgos) with the depopulated village of Ribera, in Valderejo Natural Park (Alava).

OÑA
Oña is located halfway between the regions of a Bureba and Las Merindades. At the foot of the Montes Obarenes and crossed by the river Oca (tributary of the river Ebro), was an important location during the Middle Ages, and closely linked to the formation of Castilla, which has been reflected in its broad monumental. Oña holds the titles of Loyal and Valiant Villa.
Its monuments include the Monastery of San Salvador, the church of San Juan, the bishop's palace Gonzalez Manso, and the ancient, narrow medieval streets with remains of the wall of Oña. -
POZA DE LA SAL
Salt and medieval village, which along with the villages of Frias and Oña form the route Raices de Castilla (PR-BU15). Set in the region of La Bureba, Poza de la Sal based its economy, history and even the name in the salt beneath its soil.
With its medieval streets, the castle and the walls are of interest the buildings occupied by the activity of the salt production, as the salt shaker, the warehouse and the House Administration of the Royal Salt. -
